Toilets, Eats, Drinks Available.
Flyer of the day. Insomnia. Looking at the list of DJs, this has to be somewhere up North, but it doesn’t say. On Christmas Eve as well.

PS: Apologies for the lack of posts over the last few days. We’ve been over in Sweden trying to hunt down the Swedish House Mafia. Unfortunately, we failed.

Unfilled Membership Application of the day
Kevin’s House was a members only nightclub in Bournemouth. I went there only once, in September ‘89, and had to queue in the rain for a member to sign us in. It was worth it.

Late night TV will never be the same again.
Damn straight it was never the same again. I don’t think Michaela Strachan was either.

Crap flyers #6
Number 6 in the ‘Crap Flyers’ series. Local raves for local people.
Here, a home-made-rave in our former home town of Loughborough. Such was the outrage at ‘acid house raves’ that this series of parties made the local paper. Then again, so did cats getting stuck in trees, so don’t read too much into that.

Acid Grandad's event news
Our friends over at Proper Magazine are putting on a top notch party in Manchester’s trendy Northern Quarter on 26th May. They’ve really pushed the boat out to secure an intimate little venue and some top drawer DJs. Fresh from their Balearica night at the Queen of Hoxton come Steve Lee and Graeme Fisher. Did we mention that, as well as being a superb DJ, Steve is also head...

This event is going to be tops.
Flyer of the day. We have to admit, we’re running out of the Hacienda/Venus stuff, so now its time to move onto the Rave flyers.

Love Decade Mass Arrests
As mentioned previously, we occasionally get approached by people with a tale to tell. In this case, it relates to the mass arrest of 836 people at a party in Gildersome, Yorkshire. The event was called ‘Love Decade’ and the original flyer is shown above. Below are a few accounts of the events of the night from those who were there, along with the letter sent...

"We have been branded as killjoys"
Occasionally we post up some of the many newspaper cuttings regarding policing and arrests at illegal ‘acid house parties’ in the late 80s and early 90s. Occasionally, we get a response from someone who was actually there. This party in Gildersome, near Leeds, resulted in the arrest of 836 people was one of the larger police operations at the time. We’ve been...

Crap Flyers #4
Taking the DIY ethic of the late 80s house scene to its extreme. To be fair, its for a house party. By which we mean a party in somebody’s house.

Karma
There’s no Karma 12s, apparently. With Compliments’ slip from Eastern Bloc Records, Manchester’s finest purveyors of vinyl in the late 80s/early 90s (and still going, round the corner in Stephenson Square). Sent out by the guy (see what I did there?) who posted out the mail orders, Guy Oldhams, from his underground lair, below the streets of Manchester....
