Crap Flyers #11
Number 11 in the ‘Crap Flyers’ series.  This time a student night at the Marcus Garvey Centre, Nottingham.  It can’t have been all that bad, as it features one of the Acid Grandad’s favourites, Simon ‘DK’ of DiY (although here spelled as Decay!). Anyway, when it comes to crap flyers, I think we may have a winner.

Food - Dancing - Drinking
Flyer for ‘Hacienda Package’ - a tour during ‘84 which saw DJ Greg Wilson, Mike Pickering’s ‘Quando Quango’ and the break dancers of Manchester’s Broken Glass Crew despatched around the country.  Most notable about the above is the fact that Greg met a young Quentin Cook and taught him the rudimentaries of scratching and cutting, thus...

KAOS
Flyer of the day - KAOS at the West India Centre, Leeds.  This one goes out to ‘Rovers 71’ who left us this message on one of our previous posts: KAOS was 87 to 89 I reckon. Think it tURNED INTO SOAK AFTER THAT (see what they did there?). Which may or may not have been something to do with the blokes who did joy. Which became SOL. I know this because I was one of the blokes...

Crap flyers #10
I’ve got no idea what this is about, or how it came to be in my possession.  In any case, it deserves its place amongst the ranks of the ‘Crap flyers’ series.  They even forgot to put the address on and added it later in pen.

Rampant Obsession
Frankie Bones: While I do refrain from selling records that are written on or loaded up with stickers, certain people always ask me for a signed copy of something and respect due, I’m like the last man STANDING when it comes to the appreciation of a DJ and his record collection. And I am not saying this as if the one who dies with the most toys wins because it’s...

The original owners will certainly be compensated
An update from the NME regarding the use of samples from ‘Love Sensation’ by Black Box on their track ‘Ride on Time’ (1989).  ”It is obvious that most of the vocal on ‘Ride on Time’ is original and performed by Catherine of Black Box” says Pete Hadfield of De/Construction.  Of course it is, Pete.  Catherine of Black Box has been acknowledged...

Acid Grandad's Story Time
Now then, children, are we sitting comfortably?  Then I’ll begin.                      Once upon a time there were two boys called Nathaniel and Earl and, as boys do, they liked to play.  One day, while viciously throwing down on their box (hang on, flipped out a bit there, lets try that again).  One day, they got a new toy and started to play with it and created something...

Media hysteria of the day
This newspaper cutting relates to a party that the Acid Grandad’s put on back in 1993.  Someone objected to not being allowed back into the venue and took it out on security with CS gas.  For some reason we got banned for that - although it wasn’t the first time we’d been banned.
